Menno has been struggling with unexplainable pain in the face for the last three years. After being misdiagnosed several times and undergoing numerous treatments, he finally visited a neurosurgeon and a Trigeminal Neuralgia specialist. The specialist diagnosed him with Trigeminal Neuralgia, a rare condition characterized by intense facial pain. (0.04% of the world population have been affected) Menno was shattered after knowing his condition. Once an active person, he now would suffer nerve pain that was unbearable. The numbness, sharp stinging pain, and electric shock-like sensations make it hard for him to carry out his day to day tasks. He struggled to eat, sleep, or even talk. His painkillers had side effects that make him feel dizzy and nauseous, affecting his quality of life for good. After continuous mental struggles and physical pain, he found support by connecting with people from his past. The gave him some hope, but untill now he not was able to find effective treatment. Over time, he learned to cope with his condition and eventually became an active member of the Trigeminal Neuralgia Association, raising awareness and providing support. His life is not easy at all, but he managed to keep going forward with the help of his newfound support system.
